Christantus Uche Sparks Dominant Palace Victory at Irish Side Shelbourne.

Despite embarking on their maiden European adventure, Crystal Palace are learning at a rapid pace. Without star figures like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles left Dublin with a commanding result that all but guarantees them a spot in the Europa Conference League playoffs.

Another victory in their upcoming match against Finland's KuPS ought to be enough to seal straight passage to the last 16, especially following a prior stumble against Strasbourg.

Squad Members Seize the Moment

This match provided a chance for some of Palace's lesser-used players to impress. Christantus Uche, in only his second beginning since arriving on loan from Getafe, opened the account with a well-taken finish. Forward Eddie Nketiah added a another, scoring for the second consecutive match.

A Shelbourne team that had finished their domestic season proved no match against a largely rotated Palace outfit. The visitors were further weakened by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with leg injuries.

In spite of heavy rain in Dublin, Palace rapidly took control. A flowing move in the 11th minute, initiated by Daichi Kamada's incisive pass, let Nketiah to set up Uche for a straightforward finish.

Midfielder Adam Wharton went close soon after, fizzing a long-range effort over the bar. Nketiah subsequently appealed for a penalty after racing into the area, but the official waved away the appeals.

The formerArsenal man did not have wait long to find his goal, prodding home from close range after Uche's shot had struck the post.

Shelbourne were clinging on desperately. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was lucky to escape a booking for a couple of agricultural challenges on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards rattled the woodwork with a powerful header from a corner.

Pino Seals the Contest

The contest was effectively over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past some weak challenges before coolly dispatching a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.

Following the break, manager Oliver Glasner took the chance to rest several individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse came close to scoring with his first touch, but saw his effort blocked.

Esse was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one attempt strike off each posts before being clasped on the line. Uche then missed a sitter of a chance, showing there is still scope for improvement in his game.

The only concern for Palace was a late injury to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This allowed 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to earn his first-team debut, capping an otherwise positive night for the visiting side.
